Light Age is the leading supplier of alexandrite laser systems worldwide for almost every application from laser hair removal to atmospheric lidar.. Its products are sold under its own name brands and in OEM and embedded products distributed by other device manufacturers. In addition to its volume product manufacturing, Light Age develops custom laser systems and new laser capabilities under contract and in strategic partnerships. Light Age frequently develops laser systems with flexible and/or highly specialized capabilities for applications requiring new, difficult, and sometimes seemingly impossible laser characteristics.

101-PAL™

Light Age, Inc. has a strong commitment to success, your success. Not only do we provide laser maintenance and training services, but we also work with our customers to help them get the most from all our advanced laser products. Modular in design and based on simple, flashlamp pumped Solid-state source, the PAL™ laser system is extremely reliable as well versatile. It's actually simpler than the fixed wavelength lasers used to pump other tunable laser sources. It is extremely low-maintenance. Nearly all of the PAL™ laser systems sold since 1989 are still in productive operation today, as are most of the OEM laser systems from Light Age. Based on alexandrite (Cr±:BeAl2O4), the most robust, tunable solid-state laser medium, the PAL™ laser system can tune continuously or operate at any fixed wavelength. The PAL™ laser system produces light at high peak and average power across fundamental wavelength range between 720 and 800 nm.

Efficient nonlinear frequency conversion processes provide complete spectral coverage from the VUV to the deep IR. Second, third and fourth harmonic generators provide light in the 360-400 nm, 240-270 nm, and 190-200 nm wavelength ranges, respectively. All other wavelengths through out the UV, visible, and IR are readily addressed through Light Age's patented high power Raman Convertor accessories.

Features

nUVo™

Light Age's innovative nUVo™ laser is the first commercially available all solid-state, cw, ultraviolet laser source. The nUVo™ laser system features solid-state reliability, together with our patented diode-pumping technology. The result is a compact, rugged and stable UV laser operating in the highly desirable near UV spectral region.

Light Age, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of alexandrite lasers, has built upon its set of proprietary technologies to produce the nUVo™ laser. The cw nUVo™ laser is an intra-cavity frequency doubled alexandrite system. It can be configured to produce light at fixed wavelengths between 370 and 400nm. The nUVo™ laser delivers UV output powers up to 10 mW. Higher power models of the nUVo™ laser are under development and will be commercially available in the near future. Diode pumped alexandrite lasers that operate in their fundamental mode are also available. They produce light in the near IR. Output power exceeds 200mW at wavelengths between 740 and 790nm.

The TEM00 spatial mode quality makes these lasers well suited for applications requiring small spot sizes or coupling to an optical fiber.

The power stability (<1% rms) makes them perfect replacements for existing, gas discharge lasers.

Applications: Compact Disc mastering, Blood flow cytometry, Confocal microscopy, Spectroscopy, Particle sizing, Forensic science, Metrology, and more...

PAL/PRO™

All solid-state tunable alexandrite lasers can be frequency doubled, tripled or quadrupled to produce light at most ultraviolet wavelengths. The outputs of our standard 101-PAL™ laser systems and our PAL/PRO™ narrow-band ring laser systems are simply and conveniently frequency tripled and quadrupled to produce 248 nm and 193 nm pulses, coincident in wavelengths with KrF and ArF excimer laser pulses. At these wavelengths typical pulse energies range from 1 to 30 mJ from oscillator-only systems. The nominal Q-switched pulse duration is 100 ns but can be varied from 30 ns to 200 ns.*

In many applications, pulses having either smooth gaussian, or flat "top hat" spatial profiles, are preferred as are longer pulses having narrower spectral bandwidth.

Light Age has developed advanced laser technology and new products that provide output in the UV (and in other spectral regions) with unprecedented control of wavelength and spectral bandwidth. These new laser products incorporate the tunable solid-state laser innovations and new laser tuning technologies, diode laser injection seeding (DLIS) and activity cavity length stabilization (ACLS), invented and developed by Light Age scientists. Commercial laser systems that produce light having bandwidths as narrow as 10 femtometers (0.01pm) are now available.

Features

  • Tunability across the UV including 193 nm ArF and 248 nm KrF wavelengths
  • All solid-state simplicity and reliability
  • Spectral linewidths<30MHz in the fundamental and below 25 fm (0.025 pm) at 193 nm
  • Continuous, all-electronic high-resolution wavelength scanning over 10's of GHz
  • Single Longitudinal Mode (SLM) output wavelength stability of <300 MHz/day
  • Gaussian or "Top Hat" spatial output with M measurements <1.3

PAL/PRO-UV™

The outputs of our standard PAL™ laser systems and our PAL/PRO™ narrow-band ring laser systems are simply and conveniently frequency tripled and quadrupled to produce 248 nm and 193 nm pulses, coincident in wavelength with KrF and ArF excimer laser pulses. At these wavelengths typical pulse energies range from 1 to 30 mJ from oscillator-only systems. The nominal Q-switched pulse duration is 100 ns but can be varied from 30 ns to 200 ns.*

Commercial laser systems now are available that produce light having bandwidths as narrow as 10 femtometers (0.01 pm).

* Shorter pulse durations are available at these wavelengths in our broader bandwidth PAL™ laser systems.

Hot•Spot™

The Hot•Spot™ 402 pulsed alexandrite laser is designed for precision spot welding. For most materials the Hot•Spot™ offers substantially greater material interaction than longer wavelength Nd:YAG lasers. Since it is more efficient, it also operates at higher repetition rate than ruby lasers.

The graphs shown here illustrate the dependence of material interaction on wavelength for a few common metals. The vertical lines in the plots show the relative interaction strengths at both the alexandrite (A) and Nd:YAG(Y) laser wavelengths. For these and many other materials, alexandrite lasers provide a significant advantage.

When You Need Something YAG and CO2 Can't Do!

Since 1986, Light Age, Inc. has designed, developed and manufactured custom and OEM laser systems for some of the world's most demanding laser applications. Included in these are laser systems that produce IR, visible, and UV light "custom tailored" for a host of challenging medical, industrial, and R&D requirements.

Our highly developed, uniquely versatile, all-solid-state alexandrite laser technology allows us to flexibly prototype each application, optimize the laser parameters, and critically engineer the laser systems into performance dimensions and configurations that best fit your needs. Whether you require a high pulse energy industrial laser system for welding or UV output and good beam quality for precision drilling we just might have the off-the-shelf solution you've been seeking.
